Highbush Cranberry: Viburnum trilobum

Grows up to 6'-15' tall

Native to northern US and Canada

 

Though it is not a true cranberry, the fruit is edible and has similar flavor. The fruit is bright red or orange and can be eaten raw or used in sauces, jellies, jams, wine, etc. It is an important winter food source for wildlife such as turkey, grouse, and pheasant. 

Highbursh cranberry prefers wet to moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. It is tolerant of various soil types and is typically hardy and easy to grow once established.
