Grows up to 3' tall, 2.5' wide

These are root divisions from plants at our farm potted up in 4" pots with organic manure-based compost.

We co-plant these with fruit trees to offer more pollinator food, an attractive understory, and a chop and drop mulch for the trees they're companion-planted with.

Comfrey is a large tuberous-rooted perennial that is primarily grown today as an ornamental for its attractive foliage and spring flowers. It is also grown for its medicinal uses. Comfrey spreads easily and is naturalized in the US, originally from Europe and Asia.

We do not have issues with these spreading at our farm due to regular mowing, but be mindful that since they are able to reproduce from just an inch or so of their root mass, they can spread if left in unmanaged spaces and also if rototilled.

Comfrey: Symphytum officinale
